Sega Genesis CDX Multimedia System

In 1994, Sega released the Sega Multi-Mega (known as the Sega CDX in North America), a 16-bit video game console that combined the Sega Mega Drive (Sega Genesis in North America) with one of its add-ons, the Sega Mega-CD (Sega CD in North America), into a single compact unit. This was Sega's final attempt to generate interest in its struggling Mega-CD format. The console was sold as the Multi-Mega in Europe for 350 GBP or 999 DM, and as the Genesis CDX in North America.

The Sega Multi-Mega had the capability to play both Sega Genesis and Sega CD games. In addition to its gaming capabilities, it also functioned as a CD player. This combination of gaming and entertainment features made the Sega Multi-Mega a versatile and attractive option for consumers.

Despite its innovative design and dual functionality, the Sega Multi-Mega was not successful in reviving interest in the Mega-CD format. The console faced challenges in the market and ultimately failed to gain traction among consumers.
